Hi All,
I've followed several threads here to try and do a DIY install of my new 6 degree monoblock LNB, the only difference being that my primary focus is 19.2E - as that's the way it was set up by a professional installer and the bolts are so rusted I don't think I could change it anyway! I have a 60cm dish in East Kent, hoping to get some Italian language channels. However, since scanning for Hotbird channels I seem to have almost a repeat of my Sky EPG channels listed there rather than what is listed on 'Lyngsat' etc. Any ideas what I've done wrong?

At a guess the 6 degree offset is going the wrong way, ie from 19.2 to 25.2 (close enough to get Astra 2 at 28.2E), rather 13E. It's sticking out the wrong side of the primary focus position.

Ah, of course! That makes perfect sense. I recall having to consider that my primary focus was about-face but I obvioulsy still got it wrong! Up the ladder again tonight then!
    Thank you.

While the weather is good treat yourself to a new dish and a Disecq motor for the coming winter. You will not regret it!

I bought a new 80cm dish and monoblock LNB for Hotbird and Astra 19 east last year, had it fitted but when my installer aligned the dish on Hotbird, Astra was not coming in, and when he aligned the dish on Astra, Hotbird was not available, after that, I had the 80cm dish aligned on Hotbird and a 2nd dish aligned on Astra, I also use 2 seperate receivers.

    All done!
It was a little too windy yesterday evening for my liking but I managed to switch the feed horns over in the bracket and twizzle the Hotbird side a little lower than the Astra side - a full scan has yielded dozens of 'new' channels including the Italian ones I wanted! There are a few channels which are too pixelated to view but I'll try fine tuning before resigning myself to being just too tight to buy an 80cm dish or motorised system - thanks for the suggestions above but I'm trying to keep the budget low for the moment. Once I've got the bug though.. ;-)

Astra 1 comes in stronger than Hotbird, switch the monoblock back to the way it was in the holder, use Hotbird as the main satellite and Astra 1 as the offset then you will get all no problems, 2 'weaker' Hotbird frequencies to fine tune your Hotbird alignment are 11.565 H sr 27.500 fec 3/4 (smile of a child) and 11.054 H sr 27.500 fec 5/6 (zdf, rtl 2 ch, ebru tv) then have Astra 1 set a little higher to the 'centre' Hotbird and all will be fine

You obviously missed the part where he said

My 60cm dish was an original Sky install and must be about 20 years old by now. If I'm feeling brave enough to risk losing my current set up I'll have to blast the bolts with WD-40 before attempting any movement. Funny thing is though that I'm fairly sure I have a good picture on the 'weak' channels listed here.
I'll have a proper look at the pixelated channels over the weekend to see if there's a common factor and take it from there. As this is only affects about 6-10 channels at present I may adopt an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' approach to what I do now have.
As long as I have WDR on 19.2E for 'Rhein in Flammen' this Saturday night I'll be fine!
    Many thanks for the advice.

If you are happy and it's getting you what you want then like you say 'if it ain't broke.........'

Yes I did, but at least I came in with a constructive suggestion not some de-constructive 'Tipp-Ex'
